Azerbaijan — and its striking capital, Baku — has become one of the most popular short-haul destinations for Israeli travellers, thanks to direct flights, warm hospitality, and a blend of modern skyline and old-city charm. Almost every traveller needs an e-Visa in advance. This guide covers everything: the visa, the rules, and the trip itself.

Yes. Israeli passport holders need an e-Visa, arranged online before travel. It's a single-entry visa allowing a stay of up to 30 days. You cannot reliably rely on visa-on-arrival — the e-Visa is the standard route, and we handle it for you.

Tourist e-Visa — up to 30 days, single entry. The government fee is $29 ($20 state fee + $9 official ASAN service fee). This is what most travellers need, and what we process.

Business visa — longer stays or multiple entries, and requires an invitation or sponsorship from an Azerbaijani entity. If you need this, contact us and we'll advise. We don't file business visas by default.

An Israeli passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the visa's expiry; a clear colour scan or photo of the passport biographical page (all four corners visible); your arrival date and first accommodation address in Baku; and a valid email address — the visa is delivered digitally.

The passport scan must be a clear, full-colour image of the main page with all four corners visible and every detail readable. If a passport-style photo is required, it should have a white background and a neutral expression. We check and format your uploads to the government's specifications before submitting.

You have two options. You can apply yourself on the official portal (evisa.gov.az) and pay the $29 government fee directly. Or you can have us do it: you answer a few questions in Hebrew, upload your passport, and we complete, check, and submit the official application, then deliver the approved visa. You pay the $29 government fee plus our service fee — both shown separately. Many travellers prefer this to avoid the foreign-language form and the risk of a costly mistake.

Standard processing takes about 3 working days. The urgent option is issued within about 3 hours. We recommend applying at least 5–7 days before your flight for standard processing, to leave a comfortable buffer — don't rely on urgent unless you must.

The tourist e-Visa is valid for a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days. Print your e-Visa and carry it with you — you'll need to present it at border control alongside your passport. Foreign visitors staying beyond a set period may need to register with the State Migration Service; if your trip is a standard short holiday within 30 days, this typically doesn't apply, but check current rules for longer stays.

The 30-day tourist e-Visa is not designed to be casually extended. Extensions must be requested from Azerbaijan's State Migration Service before your permitted stay expires, must keep the same purpose, and approval is not guaranteed. For a normal holiday, plan your trip to fit within 30 days.

Overstaying your permitted period can result in fines, delays at departure, and restrictions on future entry to Azerbaijan. Always confirm your exit date is within your visa's validity, and keep your accommodation and return-travel details handy. If your plans change, act before your stay expires rather than after.

Match every detail on your application exactly to your passport — spelling, numbers, dates. Print at least one copy of your approved e-Visa and keep a digital copy on your phone. Have your first accommodation booking and return ticket accessible at the border. Double-check your passport's expiry before you apply. Apply with a comfortable buffer before travel.

Best time to visit: spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) offer the most pleasant weather. Summers are hot; winters are cool and windy — Baku isn't called the "City of Winds" for nothing.

Top things to do: wander the UNESCO-listed Old City (Icherisheher) with its Maiden Tower and Palace of the Shirvanshahs; admire the Flame Towers and the Zaha Hadid–designed Heydar Aliyev Center; stroll Baku Boulevard along the Caspian; and take a day trip to the mud volcanoes and rock carvings at Gobustan.

Getting around, money, and culture: Baku has a clean, cheap metro and widely available ride-hailing; the centre is walkable. The currency is the manat (AZN) — generally affordable for Israeli travellers. Carry some cash; cards are accepted in most city venues.
