Do Israelis need an ETA for Sri Lanka?

Yes. From 25 May 2026 the government fee was waived for Israelis ($0), but the authorization is still mandatory and must be obtained online before you fly. Without an approved ETA you may be denied boarding.

How long does it take and what's the validity?

Usually 24–72 hours. The ETA is valid for 30 days from first entry, with double entry allowed. Apply at least 3–4 days before your flight to be safe.

What do you need to prepare?

A valid passport, flight details, accommodation address in Sri Lanka (hotel), and a passport scan/photo. Every detail must match your passport — mismatches can delay approval.

Free but mandatory — what does that mean?

The government charges no fee, but you still must file an official application. A private service charges a convenience fee for completing, checking, and filing in Hebrew — or you can apply yourself at eta.gov.lk.

Entry rules change frequently and the final decision always rests with border authorities. Always verify with an official source close to your travel date.
