ESTA for the USA — Who Needs It, Cost & Timing
Last updated: July 2026
Do Israelis need an ESTA?
Yes — for flights to the United States. Israel is in the Visa Waiver Program, so no visa is needed for short tourist visits, but an approved ESTA is mandatory before boarding. Without ESTA you won't pass check-in.
How much does ESTA cost and how long is it valid?
The government fee is $40.27 per traveler (as of 2026). ESTA approval is valid for two years or until your passport expires — whichever comes first. You may stay up to 90 days per visit.
When isn't ESTA enough?
ESTA is for tourism, short business, and transit. For work, study, or long stays you need a full visa through the embassy. Anyone previously denied ESTA or with certain criminal records may also need a visa.
